Getting Started
From your dashboard, tap Create Ranch, give it a name, and add the basics. This is your home base — everything else lives inside it. Prefer to watch? See the Creating Your Ranch tutorial.
Open your ranch and tap Add Herd. Start with one group you know well, give it a name, and you're set. You can add as many herds as you run.
Inside a herd, tap Add Cattle and fill in what matters to you — tag number, sex, birth date, and any notes. Even five or ten head is plenty to get the feel of it.
Yes. Head to Settings → Sharing and send them access so everyone's working from the same page. Walkthrough: the Sharing Access tutorial.
Daily Operations
Tap Tasks → Add Task, write what needs doing, and set a due date. It shows up on your dashboard so nothing falls through the cracks.
Set a reminder on any task or treatment and Herd Chaser nudges you before it's due — so branding day or a booster shot doesn't sneak up on you.
Open a pasture and use Move to shift a herd or individual head. Your records update so you always know who's where.
Notifications flag what needs your attention — due tasks, reminders, and updates. Manage them anytime in Settings → Notifications.
Keeping Records
Pull up the animal (or a whole group), tap Add Treatment, and record what you gave, how much, and when. Takes just a few seconds in the chute.
Tap Add Calving, log the new calf, and tie it to the right cow right away — so the pairing is never a guess later.
Open any record and tap Edit. Fix a typo or update a detail and save — your history stays clean and correct.
Reports & Data
Go to Reports, pick what you want to see, and Herd Chaser pulls it together in one view — handy for the vet, the buyer, or the bank.
From any report, tap Export to pull your records out as a file you can save or share. Your data is always yours.
Your Account
Tap your ranch name or the gear icon to open Settings — that's where sharing, notifications, and preferences live.
We know the back forty doesn't always have bars. Herd Chaser keeps working and syncs back up once you're in range. More in the Syncing Your Data tutorial.
Yes. Your records are yours. We use them to run your account and improve the product for you — never to sell to anyone. You can export or ask us to remove your data anytime.
Founding Ranchers
Head to herdchaser.com/report and tell us what happened. No bug is too small — a real person reads every one.
Share it at herdchaser.com/ideas. Tell us the why behind it, and a lot of what we build next will come straight from ideas like yours.
A Friday Founder Update every week, quick check-ins, and a note whenever we fix or ship something you asked for. You're helping build this — not just testing it.
Email help@herdchaser.com, message us in the app, or post in the Founding Ranchers group. A founder answers, usually within a day.
